USC Watershed Forestry Team
The goal of the USC Watershed Forestry Team is to promote the restoration and long-term functionality of forest restoration across the watershed. These goals are achieved through innovative programming. The team is dedicated to ensuring practice functionality through education, outreach, and technical assistance.
Data collection to better understand the practical side of tree establishment is also a priority as is proving technical support for planting issues to USC members. We strive to engage partners and utilize partnerships to leverage additional work to promote the mission of the USC.
2026 Watershed Forestry Team Goals
- Piloting Planting with Purpose in partnership with The Nature conservancy and the Arbor Day Foundation.
- Through the Community Reforestation (CoRe) grant, we will begin reforesting urban areas across the watershed in 2026.
- Getting executed agreements for several grants to
fuel upland afforestation, namely from National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and NY’s Soil and Water Conservation Committee. - Helping FSA and NRCS with the 2026 and 2027 CREP
re-enrollment workload. - Transitioning to the Watershed Forestry Team, to be more inclusive of all of the types of forestry we take on for water quality.
