Water Quality Program GoalsUSC Water Quality Program

Our goals are to increase implementation of riparian forest buffers, wetlands, grazing, stream corridor rehabilitation and afforestation projects. We meet this goal by disbursing grant funding to our members and partners efficiently and effectively for water quality BMPs on Ag land including but not limited to:

  • Fence
  • Off stream water
  • Crossings
  • Erosion Control Practices

How does the USC Water Quality Program work?

  • Our Member Soil and Water Conservation Districts fill out application, request for funding.  Matching funds are strongly encouraged, but not required for some practices.
  • USC Team reviews application and schedules site visits.
  • District is awarded funding.
  • Quick turnaround with award and contract.
  • Invoice and report upon project completion.
  • Projects are typically implemented within 12 months.

We are currently accepting applications for projects. Our project application is available here.

We currently have a NFWF grant specifically for funding this program. Otherwise, matching programs include DEC/Ag and Markets, Arbor Day Foundation, USFS, Climate Resilient Farming, Ag Non-Point Source Abatement Program, and CREP.  All projects are facilitated through SWCDs.
